This file is intended to be used in Adobe Photoshop. It is set for auto extract to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions
If you are just not using CS3 then choose:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop\Presets\Actions.

If you do not have Photoshop CS3 and have extracted the file without reading my initial instructions thoroughly, then I want you to read this next bit very carefully because you have already made one mistake! Open the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions - copy the contents and paste them into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop\Presets\Actions. Once you have done that, you will now be in the world of the concious, listening and learning fraternity that everyone else lives in. No more Braer Rabbit and the Easter Bunny!

This program uses the 'Actions' facility which is built into Adobe Photoshop. It will carry out the manual settings to convert a photograph to a suitable image for lasering at 300dpi, 400dpi or 500dpi, allowing you to convert an image using the process conceived by Rodney Gold from Sawmill Creek. It is not fool proof, but it's pretty close to it and will require little or no input when activated.

Here is how you make it work for you: The initial setup will only need to be done once.

1) Load your image in Photoshop and set the size of the picture you need it to be e.g. 11"x8".
(Image, Image size or Alt+Ctrl+I then under document choose the size of your canvas)

2) Select 'Actions' - if it is not visible in the pane on the right of your screen, choose Alt+F9 or click on Window on the top line and then select Actions.

3) You should now see The Gold Method listed in the Actions box. If it is not visible, then on the right of the Actions pane, you will see three lines with a little down arrow on it. Click on that and a list will appear. Choose The Gold Method.
This should now always be there. You should also see a set of different actions dependent on the dpi you need.
300 dpi positive, 300 dpi negative. etc, etc.

4) Choose the dpi that you intend using and positive or negative by clicking once.
(If it's going on black or dark material choose negative)

5) At the bottom of the actions pane, you will see a small row of icons, a little square, a circle and an arrow pointing to the right. You click the arrow pointing to the right (PLAY).

It should now process it within seconds and that's it. Save your image in bmp or tif and load it into Corel. Use your lasers machine manual to select the appropriate power/speed settings for the material that you are engraving on.

I have saved a copy of these instructions to your desktop for reminder purposes.
Hope it works,
regards,
Frank Corker
