Congratulations on your first successful test!
Most of the settings look very reasonable. The one change I would make is to untick the "Path Optimize" at the lower right. You won't see any difference when in Scan mode, but in Cut mode, the Path Optimize overrides all the other path optimizations you may do, leading to much confusion, wailing, and gnashing of teeth.
Post a picture of the results of your test (the wood and glass) and we can have a look to see if there are other optimizations to suggest.

on wood you can wipe the residue off with a cotton tee shirt you have spritz with some windex.
I prefer to lacquer my wood in advance of engraving - the resin wipes off easily - you could also you some zinsser spray shellac (lowes for spray lacquer of shellac)
1. I would back of the power a bit on the glass - I use 16watt at 400mms - I am not sure what your recommended speeds are for your machine
Your glass does not look frosted it look chipped (for the record frosted and chipped are the same thing - chipped just has bigger chips that frosted)
You should shoot for a more uniform frosted look vice the faceted look shown in you pic - but you are on the right track - more testing is all you need.
(lower power or increase speed or do both)

By the way, your laser alignment looks really good. I don't see any evidence of backlash, nor delays cause by the power supply's turn-on time.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of the glass projects you produce with your laser.

A detail without much importance, but you are activating the output for tubes 1 and 2 at the same time, you have to take out the tilde that you do not use. The 6442 has 2 independent outputs and with a rare combination 4 tubes can be activated
