Hello,
i have my first Problem for which i hope to get help.
The attached picture is my testobject and also the testobject_result.
It is made from 3mm milky acrylic, which is first painted gray overall.
After that i put a duct tape over the hole thing and cut only the outside(black layer), the hole(blue layer) complete and the red layer only to cut thru the tape.
Then i must take it out of the laser and remove the tape (not the tape over thr red layer) and paint the hole thing in blue ( also inside the hole and the outsides )
Now i can remove the rest of the tape which is over the gray background (red layer).
Now i run in the problem, because i must put in the plate back in the laser to the absolute same position where it was
to scan the Letters.
Remember...i am talking about sero tolerance, otherwiese the white ring around the Hole is not correct centered.
I really dont know how to archive that and hope for any ideas.
Thanks in advance
Matthias
Very hard to do

the idea is to use a cardboard to set the object in place.
take a rectangular cardboard; put it anywhere on the table, so that you shape can overlap the top/right of the cardboard and still fit on the table.
draw a shape (2 perpendiculars lines) in the form of an L, large enough that you can place the corner of the L on the cardboard, and the "branches" will go out of the cardboard. the 2 branches must be perpendicular and horizontal/vertical.
fix your carboard! magnet, weight, whatever.
change the settings in RDworks to place the origin of the cut in bottom left. place the head on the carboard, "origin", and cut the L form using relative positioning (cut selected object only + relative)
--> the cut will let you with the cardboard with a rectangle in the top/right missing. and the corner of the L IS precisely at the origin of the machine.
now you can place your acrylic in the corner, and you select the shape of your object (the whole shape, not just the part to engrave), set the origin to bottom/left, and start the job (obviously, you set the blue/black lines to output=no since they are already cut). since you have physically forced the origin of your acrylic shape to be at the same place that the "origin" of the machine, this is perfect match.

Live in France
Primarily works laser for my wife (school teacher, so lots of boxes, letters, puzzles, ...) and miniature scenery (32mm scale : warmachine, infinity)

You want to
-paint acrylic
-put in laser and cut/engrave
-remove from laser and paint
-put back in laser in the same exact location
Here are some option to align your acrylic for repeatability:
I am unsure how you laser bed is configured but the grooved block to match the rails may be an option
For production runs I cut out holes to match material I must engrave
I record the X/Y home positions to be able to reuse the jig over and over. The block of wood on the bottom is precisely fitted between the rails and front to back so it registers in the machine the same location for each use

thanks a lot for the moment for the nice ideas.
I will study (and a bit translate to german) the Answers and try it out.
Then i will come back with the result.
Thanks

Hello,
i am on, trying to get it working.
I have now a "L" directly in the Maschine Zero Point, but now i can not cut this testobject as in the attached Picture.
There comes up a Error in the Maschine Display which says "Not enough extendet Space" .. what means that and
can i solve this ?
Black and Blue Layer must not be Cuttes ( "NO" ), only the green Layer should be cuttet.
And for them there is enough Space to x zero and y zero.

"Not enough extendet Space"
"No enough extend space." ERROR - at the end of each sweep the beam switches off but the head has to travel on as it decelerates to a stop, turn around and accelerate back up to speed before turning the beam on again. If you have set your program to run from 0, 0 or a point that does not allow this to happen, this overrun will go outside the allowable work area. You need to leave about 5mm all round when engraving to allow for this, depending on speed. So set your origin at 5, 5 and make sure your image is not bigger than 10 mm less than your work area. Try
moving it off 0, 0 by about 5 mm's in both axis settings, hit origin then try again.
Move the piece you want to engrave toward the center of the bed - you are too close to the edge of where the laser head is moving.
The laser travels some distance past the point it cuts/engraves in both X and Y, if there is not room for the over travel that is the error you recieve.

Ok, i got it working
Importat was first to fix a pice and cut it (around 100x100 at absolute position 5x5).
Then remove the rest of the Material arount the pice.
Now fix a X and Y Axis "Rail" ) around that pice and then remove that pice.
Now i can cut anything at any position, then paint it and put it back between the "Rails".
Now in RDWorks put the pice at coordinates 5x5 and select "Absolute Position" for the output.
Now it is absolute perfect !!
Thanks all for the Tips!
