Hi folks,

Wondering does anyone know what linear rails are used in the big red (and black) KH7050.
One of the Y rails is ever so slightly bent/ curved/ bulged in one section, which affects about 100mm x 200mm of cutting area. The laser beam is completely misaligned in this area of the machine due to this 'bow' in the rail, so it barely cuts even with power inreses :(

So I want to replace the rail but there are so many variations and model numbers for rails online, I'm so lost.

The rail I currently have is approx. W12mm H8mm with holes every 25mm and the Length is approx. 660mm

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Daniel

The rail and the associated bearing come as a set - if you look at the bearing it should have a manufactures name (in most cases).

Different laser manufacturers use different rails. Mine are HiWin (brand) rails & bearings, or a clone thereof.

Many red and blacks come with cheap clones of HiWin rails. In those cases, you probably won't find any markings on the rails or bearing carts. HiWin rails are the industry standard but they are expensive. Hopefully someone here will know a reasonably priced alternate that still is high quality (make sure the carts have an actual lubrication coupling as a standard feature!).

Please update this thread and let us know how your replacement project goes so we all can learn.

Thanks for all of that info folks.

Unfortunately, no markings anywhere on anything, the joys.

Thanks above for going to that trouble to show your set up. Mine is a different rail profile.

From some obscure site I managed to find some sort of a prat number and then found a spec sheet too.

So it seems it's a copy of a hiwin rail that has a number : MGN12.

Since none of the companies I've contacted have replied, I think I might just have to take a chance and hope I manage to get it right 1st time.

Thanks again all!

Depending on who you were trying to contact due to the current Virus a lot of people are on extended breaks until about a week ago in China so I would think there is a significant backlog of emails to attend to.

Not sure about your specific case but the general experience with 3D printers fitted with Chinese origin rails has been poor overall. You will also find faked Hiwin for sale if the source is mainland China rather than Taiwan. Try looking for a local distributor might also be worth a try https://www.hiwin.com/distributors.html
