Hi
I have a problem and cannot figure out the problem, my red/blk 60w stopped working from firing the laser, I have changed the tube, problem still the same, I get just a faint flash of plasma at the input end, I followed a online way of checking the power supply by removing the large green plug on the power supply, the red light was bright, when the green plug is returned the red light is dim, so I am puzzled where to look next any advice would be welcome? I have spent on a new tube I don't want to buy a power supply if it is not faulty?

1. Are you sure your connections to the new tube are snug - nothing insulating the connection( preventing good contact)
2.Does the fan on the pwr supply run
3. Are there lights illuminated on the pwr Supply - there is usually 2 a green and red
4. Have you checked for blown fuse in the pwr supply

Hi
Thank you for your response, the connections to the tube are okay, it is doing exactly the same as it did with the old tube, just a faint flash of plasma at the input end, so I have changed the tube for nothing, the problem is elsewhere, the fan on power supply working, I have only seen one red light next to the small green plug which is lit up.

Would a software problem cause this? I was altering the line width not long before it stopped firing?

You didn't accidentally set your max power way down low in the controller for testing did you? That will cap anything sent by cutting files.

Good, I've done that to myself I don't know how many times after turning it down for alignment tests.

Sorry - Sounds a lot like a pwr supply.

If I hold down the pulse I have a pale purple plasma at the input of the tube, like it as not enough power, also I did a reset on the machine! big mistake, it goes to left hand corner now and keep jumping, I cannot remember how to make it home to the top right hand corner where the limit switches are? I will have to order a power supply, I was hoping it was something simpler, having spent on a new tube that was obviously not the offending problem, is their anything else that can cause the laser not to fire?

You said you hit the pulse, the only thing I would be tempted to do is to 'hot wire' the laser power supply. Matt has the diagram on his YouTube channel, and I'm sure someone here can give it to you as well. Main power to the laser power supply, bypass the WP, and a switch to fire it directly taking everything else out of the equation. I'd hate to order a power supply and find out it's the controller.
