Hello! I live in Rigby Idaho, and am a complete newbie to lasers. We just purchased a Preenex 60w CO2 laser and a rotary attachment. We bought it to expand our small business of leather goods/threads, and to add other items to what we do. So far I have managed to burn up some leather and create a horrible smell that won’t go away - and that’s about all! I’m hoping to learn to do some things in wood and glass.

Welcome Sheri- I totally understand the smell of lasered leather, I have no solution except for very good airflow and ventilation... and then it is someone else's problem of course depending upon where you exhaust it. There are many fake leather products intended for lasering but I understand that a leather shop would frown upon them. I have purchased bags of smell absorbing material which do help and when laid out in the sun for a few hours they are re-charged. What do you have for an exhaust fan? I just installed a 750w squirrel cage fan in place of a 500w fan and it really moves some air- when I plugged it in to try it is slowly started scooting across the floor from the 'jet' like exhaust. Let us know what we can help you with and if you can please post pictures of some of your products, we like to see what people are producing with their machines. Gene
