Hello! So, I generally use the top-left as my anchor point for positioning my material for cutting/scanning, but I just realized if I wanted to timelapse it well, it should scan bottom to top. Is there a way to set that globally?

it is set in the controller / program, not the individual file. Config, System Setting. Top right box of pips labeled Laser Head. Works nice for starting from top or bottom center for circle engraving on existing object as well.

Your engraving will also come out better if you engrave towards your exhaust point instead of having the hot cutting gasses go back over the almost as hot area you just engraved.

That also adjusts where your reference point is right? I've been putting it in the top-left for reference so that I can position things without the head being in the way... Are are they separate things? Or am I locked into starting the scan wherever the head is for positioning

The green box is your laser head / starting point. It is not connected to the 0,0 in any way. That green box is what the machine works off of if you set your position to something other than machine zero or absolute coordinate. I don't remember what the difference is between current position and anchor point. I have mine set for anchor point and set the origin on the keypad.

I have mine set to "current position" and use the top-left as it's "current position" when I hit the origin button. But no matter what it scans top/down. And if I set my head in the bottom-right it'd just make it hard to position things properly... Is there a way to do both?

Bleh, I might have to buck up and just buy the license for it... I hadn't read too much into if I can run a version at home so that I can design, and then run it at work to actually cut, is that a thing?

You get two seats, and they will add one more if you ask nice.
