I feel there's a misconception here - you don't have to "change over" - there is nothing to stop you from continuing to use existing files in RDWorks, and using LightBurn beside it for the things it does better. As your comfort level grows, you'll find fewer things you need to go back to RD for (there are still a couple).
The AI export from LightBurn can be loaded by RD and vice versa, so with the exception of cut settings, there's an easy way to shuttle data between the two. You shouldn't find it hard to learn either - most things feel very similar, and the ones that are different were changed because I thought they made more sense a different way. Play with it, on me, for a month and see what you think - do some low pressure jobs with it, or just self projects, to get a feel, but there's no need to just put RD in the bin and never look back - we try to play well with others.

I think everyone has to decide for themselves what they want or need. I for instance use Aspire or SolidWorks predominantly for design, but I also use Corel and Photoshop as well. I only use RDWorks to prep the file foe the laser. I have LB but and have used it but I prefer other software because I use it for more than laser work. Lots of paths to get to finished product.
There no right or wrong tool set....use what works.

“...but I only use it to prep files for the laser” - that’s actually a great reason to switch, especially if your files are complex.
Look at the speed difference:

Good video - I think LB is a great product.

Boss Laser now sells all thier laser with lightburn
Thunderlaser is now including Lightburn with their tools as well. I don't use RDWorks at all now unless I need some sort of low level function.
I really do wish that Ruida controllers could read and write longer file names, though.
And use a filename with normal symbols like file_name file-name file&name etc.

LightBurn is getting a library feature - it’s about 70% complete. There won’t be a trivial import path from RDW libraries, but it shouldn’t take long to build them up.
Questions:
- Are there things you wish the RD library did?
- Do you use the “export size” feature often?

Thanks a lot. When this feature is done and I get LB built up with the files that I have in RDW, there will not be much reason to look back.
I will take a look at it and respond in LB forum. Might not be till early next week cause I'm about to head out for deer huntin this weekend.
Again, Thank you for all your hard work cause I know it gets to be a real pain in the ---- neck to answer so many questions and try to do some things that are just crazy that people ask for. Most of them have probably never had to learn on or even used RDW and just expect too many things so I really do appreciate what you are doing. I hope some day to figure out how to use so many of the features that you have built because I don't even know how to use all the features in RDW. I don't understand a lot of the terminology of these type programs so I sometimes take hours to just figure it out to later find out that I could have done that in just minutes or even seconds. Have a good weekend.
