I have had a similar problem. It turned out that the one of the screws holding the head in place had come loose.

thanks I will search on acceleration, it's not something I have touched on the settings, but I'm convinced there shouldn't be any perceptible play in the head, I have a new linear bearing on order, I decided against getting a new rail in stock 'just in case' as you say it's $$$

thinking out aloud if it was an acceleration issue surely it would show when cornering a normal sharp right angle at any speed? or maybe the acceleration set is variable depdnign on the main speed of head...
