I'll agree with Gene that you need to get a new controller.
In this video, Russ explains what happens in China with these controllers. This might be what is happening with yours.

I would be looking at a new controller- just for peace of mind. They are more expensive than ours but I have to guess you already have a bit of coin invested and have a need for this to work? Just the way my mind works- when you are 75yo you have more money than time

Hi Gene
Sorry I missed this. The controller seems to have magically evicted the gremlins that had appeared out of nowhere, and now everything is playing nice, so I got busy catching up with all the work that had backed up, and didn't get around to checking this forum for a while.
I've also been working through the various settings to dial in optimal cuts in a range of thicknesses for MS and SS, and have been happy cutting 2mm stainless all week, which has been a joy to finally get decent results I can work with. Turns out that SS is much easier to dial in than MS, probably due to the higher purity/quality of the material, so its more consistent with the cut when the settings are right. Still trying to get optimal cuts with 3mm MS, which I might post about separately.

Hi Rodney, thanks for this video, very interesting! I didn't know about the grey market for second rate parts and it certainly adds another layer to the possible scenarios of what goes on with these machines. As I mentioned in reply to Gene, the controller has mysteriously just started working again, so I'm running with it at the moment.

Things that just 'go away' give me a lot of stress, maybe worse than the actual problem. I understand about getting on with the necessary parts of life, but I would still have a controller on the way. Just sayin', been here 75 years and have seen a lot of strange things. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Gene

I agree. In my career as an engineer, I've learned that things that "just go away" can also "just come back".

Yes totally agreed on the potential for the issue to "just come back"... and probably a good idea to get an A-grade unit on order as soon as possible. Should I go for exactly the same model to minimise any compatibility issues or are there better models that will be compatible with the one I've got?

I have a question that is somewhat off topic. How were you able to configure lightburn to recognize your 6332m controller? I ran through the wizard but it does not see the controller, I've reinstalled lightburn and made sure to include the installation of the FTDI serial driver but it still does not recognize my controller. I've tried to manually install it but the ruida controller does not show up as an option to select. I am running lightburn v09.20. I ran a debug by Right-click the ‘Devices’ button in the Laser window ass suggested from another blog and am including the file. I am currently running rdwoks v8.01.48.Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
