Had this issue and found a threaD on the CNCzone, but no one had a good answer. They were all making odd adjustments to try to compensate for what seemed to be a "Y" backlash issue. I finally got it worked out and much happier with my machine performance. I have a KH-5030, so this may not be an issue on other machines.
I ended up making adjustments for the backlash, under the User tab next to the Work tab in RDworks. I had an issue where my circles were not quite round with a little flatness to the top an bottom of circles (also Circles were not closing). I adjusted for my Y Backlash under the User tab to 0.35mm and that made my circles round and got rid of the non-closing of the circle. If you have flatness on the sides of a circle you will have to adjust the X backlash.
How to adjust for Backlash.
(1) Go to the User tab on the right side of the screen in RDworks. Make sure you can see the OPEN, SAVE, READ, WRITE buttons.
(2) Click READ and then SAVE button to Save your Original Setting from the machine
(3) Go down to "Other" in the User Tab: then to Backlash Y(mm) and enter 0.35 (You may have to adjust this based on your backlash amount. I made 1 in circles until I got the roundness I was looking for. For me it was at 0.35)
(4) After you enter the new value Click WRITE which will write new settings to the machine. (run your test circle to see results)
(5) If your WRITE button is greyed out, you must do a READ to the machine first, then it will allow you to write new inputs.
Hope this helps others!
