Push the Z/U center button and then the Left arrow goes up and the Right arrow goes down [or is that reversed, I work on muscle memory], that is on the machine panel of course.

I don't know what type of laser you have, but on my red and black clone the buttons that raise and lower my bed are on the right side of the laser above the toggle switch that turn the laser tube on and off .

In the back open the bottom panel...is there a servo belted into the gearing for the z axis?

Some models have two buttons on a side of the machine to raise and lower

What is the model / serial number nomenclature on the machine

Hi Jeff .... looks to me like you have a mechanical control for your Z axis .... my line of thinking is that knob I pointed out on a previous post is what you would turn to raise and lower the bed .... but it is just an observation on my part.

Asuming the knob Biran pointed out is installed on the upper end of one of the 4 shafts shown in the last pic on the previous page:
Brian is correct - the knob is your drive mechanism to raise or lower the bed. The last pic on the previous post shows no servo/stepper to electrically position the bed.

If the set screw is loose on the knob - loosen it som more and inspect the shaft where the set screw engages - there should be a flat spot on the shaft - clean and debris, align/orient the knob with the set screw to the flat and install and tighten.

The drive belt in the picture drives all the table elevation screws when one is rotated - -manual operation of the table is something of a bother depending on what you are doing if the material thickness varies

you can adjust the power of the laser from the control board directly. if you shoot "full power" when doing the alignment test, your paper won't sustain it...

i set mine very low, so i can hit pulse for a long time and see the "ring" appear on the paper without burning through. it allows me to do several consecutive tests with the same paper.

this is also safer : if your laser is totally offpath, the risk of reflection inside the machine is far less. i don't want to run the laser full power when my hand may be inside the path!
