No enough extend space- on a cut?

I have been cutting earrings for a good part of the day from a half dozen species of wood, do a cut test on each and then cut some samples in different sizes. Was going to do one last wood [walnut]- did the cut tests and set the power/speed and started getting NEES errors.

I closed the RDw program and loaded the file again-NG
I restarted the puter, opened RDw and the file- NG
Some where in doing all this i moved the head to all four quadrants of the bed- NG
I changed the color [reset the speed/power] NG

Then with the new color- I tried cutting 6" closer to the Zero point... and it worked. I moved the work and completed the cut.

I have had random issues with this and have done everything I can think of, in as many combinations as i can think of. Has anyone figured out anything on this issue- or even had it happen when cutting. Thanks for any info/thoughts... it is starting to get on my last nerve. Gene

I found the reason for "no extended space" is , the laser head travels past the outine of your furtherest points. So when you moved it in 6 inches, this really gave the laser head more room. If you read the manual on extended space, it does say this. Oringally, I thought it was chinese for memory. At a fast speed, I found more space is needed as the laser head will travel an inch and a half past the furtherst points of your drawing. So if you were to set your drawing as wide as your cutting bed and set your speed at say 700, you would run into this problem. Shrink your drawing by 6 inches, or maybe slow the speed down, will fix it.

Scott- that is true when engraving, but this was cutting- no over travel, and the framing worked fine- my bed is 48x36 and I was nowhere close to any edge.

I started the Laser today [the software program was still open] and it works fine- same file, same position on the table... everything the same. ???

Gene, I have the same problem sometimes with no rhyme or reason. Been using the laser for a year now, it has nothing to do with placement and or the size of the image. When that happens, you know what it is. I think sometimes my issue comes when I have been using RDWorks for numerous projects, one right after the other. Do a job, delete it, open another job, complete it, delete it, etc. The problem seems to be better when I close RDWorks and then reopen after each job. Most of the time I am too impatient to close and reopen so I just reset margin to where the laser likes it. I think my laser has a mind of its own sometimes. I swear I can hear it laugh at me now and then. My newest problem in RDWorks is the Independent Output for scan seems to think it needs to be checked half the time. Something new I have to check before each job or wait forever for the job to finish.

Willy, I think you nailed it. I am also a great abuser of our poor little RDworks program. I have to [feel the need to] do so many different things a the same time [there was a time I could actually multitask] that I keep importing more and more things into what ever program I have open, and I normally have 3 instances of RDw open at a time ['spose that could be a factor... I have considered it] and it gets to the 'no way, Jose' attitude.

Almost two years later... I think it is a memory problem. This and other errors that drive you [me] crazy will 'sometimes' be skirted by:
Saving the file
Deleting part of the file if it is big [mine always are] as a V2 or somesuch and closing and reopening
Restarting the laser, and or computer, and or have a couple pints. I have always wondered if Lightburn has these errors?
