This was mentioned in the post on Signs101 with the people grousing about Corel as an alternative for $50. There is a free trial.

I am successfully using Affinity Designer to run my laser cutter.
Neither the current release version (1.6.5.2) or the current beta (1.7.x) will handle DXF file format, so I am exporting as SVG. and then converted to DXF in Inkscape.
The developers have said that DXF will be supported in the future.

It is ridiculous that Ruida hasn't updated RDWorks to handle importing and exporting of .svg files as well as handling the current versions of other common graphic files.
