My name is Lynn Russell

I'm a guy. There are a few of us around usually born in the 40's and 50's when it was popular. Remember Lynn Swann (football) Lynn Dicky (football). Nolan Ryan (actually Lynn Nolan Ryan - Baseball ). Not sure why I'm not an athlete. I'm far from it.

Grew up in Maine and moved to the midwest after college. Director of Engineering (retired 3 yrs ago) from a company that made Hydraulic and Engine Controls. Loved being an engineer until I became a manager.

Bought one of the blue and white China Lasers about a year ago. SH350 type with a make believe 50W tube. Have had very little trouble with it except for the homing proximity sensors going bad a couple times. This is a toy for me because I like this kind of stuff. This is not for any business. Except I love Pinball and this seems like there would be a business opportunity making broken pinball plastics. My problem is I'm so darn busy with other stuff I never get to spend a lot of time with my toys.

I'll be posting on an off because I've got some questions.

Welcome Lynn- that is a Shenhui model, right? How do you like it- I posted [favorably] about one I bought from Automation Tech, but now that I think of it, those posts are all gone now. Settle in, we are rebuilding the FAQ section to be more useful and we have bright young members who have a lot of knowledge. Gene

Welcome Lynn. Be careful as the laser has been known to change from a toy to an obsession. When you drive down the road and many of the scenes you see and you ask yourself what would that look like if I laser it on wood or glass or a rock.... Have fun with it and be creative.

Yes, a Shenhui model. Interesting because I watch Russ's video's where he has modified his machine and it's different from mine. When I look at mine the mirror holders and lens tube is black. I have slotted adjustments on some of the brackets where he had to add them. My machine has a longer focal length also straight from the factory. Not sure if it's a later machine with improvements or an earlier machine before cost reductions. I've seen ebay machines called. SH350B and posts talking about SH250G. Obviously different models. Is there a listing anywhere?

Russ' is not a Shenhui- China is the wild west as far as everyone stepping on others and model numbers and there are hundreds of small shops who buy the cabinets from someone and motors here and other parts and assemble them into [if we are lucky] a laser.
