My name is Steve Carlton. I am retired ex-pat (Yorkshireman) living in Bellingham, Wa close to the Canadian border.

I have a woodworking workshop which includes a laser engraving maching and a newly acquired Shapeoko CNC router.

The machine I have is from Jamieson Laser in Connecticut. It is manufactured in China and looks similar to the ebay imports. It is fully spec'ed by Jamieson and is of much better build quality than the imports. Jamieson seem to have rectified many of the issues that Russ identifies in his videos. The cost of my machine is between that of the imports and companies like Trotec or Universal. I have used the machine for 4 years with no issues. I consider it good value for money. My machine uses common parts with the imports so I can still make some of the changes that Russ recommends.

Th machine uses LaserCut software. I use Coredraw to create graphics.

I am a hobbyist, my projects include furniture, loudspeakers, humidors, hobby paint racks, game parts, and anything else that takes my fancy. I will post pictures of some of my projects.

Currently I am working on 8 edge lit illuminated acrylic signs for a local games store and designing a large sign for outside the store.

Welcome Steve- sounds like you have everything under control. Happiness is being in my workshop with a cup of tea, a bacon butty and radio 2. I have to agree about the workshop happiness, I know what tea is but not sure about the bacon butty and radio 2, sounds foreign to me . Most of our members use RDworks but I am sure there will be things of interest here. Gene
