Post local Distributors and materials that can be purchased
Some sources for material. I'll focus on real shops, not online.
Acrylic:
Bauhaus
Byggmax (often don't have in stock, so check first)
Thin plywood:
I only think Bauhaus has this. Would love to find another supplier.
Rubber:
Biltema has "packningsgummi", sheets of gasket rubber. Nice rubber, but haven't tried to cut it yet, and don't know if it's laser safe.
Cork:
Cheapest is IKEA Väggis, just take off the frame.
Thin MDF (I think it's MDF, it kind of looks and behaves like 2.5 mm masonite with both sides blank):
When you order a counter top from IKEA, it comes packaged in this stuff. Not worth buying a countertop for that, but if you get it, keep it, because it cuts amazingly, straight, sharp and clean.
Tiles:
Ask for leftovers in any shop that sells tiles (especially if they also sell the service). They usually have a bunch, or can save up a bunch for you.
Glass and mirrors:
IKEA glass shelves for their kitchen systems are good, and engrave well.
MIrrors can be found cheaply at IKEA, Dollar Store and Rusta.
Cheap calibration test material:
Ginger bread cookies (pepparkakor). Dirt cheap, especially after Christmas, and has a consistent quality.
Colored thin paper (for lamps):
Dollar Store has a package with a large selection of colors, very cheap.
