I blame Russ for making me find my way here. ;)

My Laser doesn't run RDWorks but is a bit better than the very average K40. Currently running K40 Whisperer on a modded Voiern (Vollerun) WR3020 with some tweaks and maybe a new controller but Whisperer has delayed that need over the horror show that is Laserdraw

Background of EE but with a recent history of 3DP and some CNC with a large dose of Electronics and Coffee Roasting so a mixed bag and having fun doing it. :D

Welcome Tim- Russ has also led many of us astray [in a delightful direction]. I have experienced LaserCut and RDworks is way better but Lightburn might be a good alternative for you? I am a pretty serious 3D printer but the 3DP you speak of, is that the 3D printer that came up when I googled it? Large format 3D printing it would seem? Settle in and have fun. Gene

3DP or more specifically FDM so far but I am weighing up getting an Resin printer. I have only being playing with them for about a year but it has got me back into Cad (Fusion 360) fairly heavily and generally doing practical and functional prints rather than spitting out Thingiverse Vases  Some of my steps along the way to my 'current' three printers are here https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/3d-printer-yet/ along with some of my designs @beanflying

I had been using the Laser for one of my other bad habits of R/C planes so there is a gap in my EEVBlog thread as Balsa and an Electronic forum is a fair bit OT but I had a need to get some Acrylic fascias done for a commercial job so I brought a small stack and started seriously playing. This showed up some setup flaws with setup and geometry of my Laser with uneven sides on deeper cuts that were a non issue on thinner Balsa and Depron so I found Russ while looking for a sensible solution. The nuts and Bolts of my Laser are here along with a few of the mods so far https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/4 ... -vollerun/

Todays project is make a Printed reverse Laser path (Nozzle to Tube) pointer adapter as my Laser doesn't have the room between the Tube and First Mirror (also a non metal fronted tube). If it works I will find an appropriate spot for a thread and upload the STL for the adapter.

Good stuff- I started with a CR10 and then built a Prusa MK3 [ I have the 's' mod coming] and like you, I like printing stuff that I need. I also learned Fusion 360 so that I could design my own parts. I have thought about a resin printer but I get very usable parts by printing with PETG.

The laser combiner [red dot indicator] could also be between the 1st and 2nd mirrors where there is usually more room
