Hi all,

I am here off the back of good ole Russ. Love those videos and learning so much.

Really excited to get stuck in but I'm struggling with my machine.
I have it over a month now and still troubleshooting and have produced nothing I am proud of. Sorry if that's a downer of an intro but it's the truth.
Right now I'm tackling a squareness issue and its nearly got me finished before I've started. I'll persevere though and hope to be contributing in the future with much more positive updates.

Anyway, thanks for having me and look forward to interacting.

All the best,

Daniel

squareness is a pain in the ass because most of your machines are NOT designed to allow adjustment of perpendicularity of the axes.

what i have done when it happened to my machine :
- i start with the idea that the Y axis is the reference, as it is screwed on the machine body!
- i use a square to draw an "horizontal" line across the X direction on a piece of wood. i make sure this wood can not move.
- (a) i put the laser head on the far left on the line i just draw. i pulse gently until i am exactly on the line.
- i move the laser head to the right for 30cm. pulse. check if the pulse is "above" of below the line. do the same to the far right --> it indicates the direction of the wrongness.
- i release the Y axis belt, and try to manually move left and right parts on the mobile gantry to correct.
- start again step (a), until you X axis is ok. everytime you pulse you must be on the line!
- tighten the belt again, trying not to botch your setting in the operation.

Thanks a lot for that info. I'll definitely take that on board as a good test!
