Acrylic is expensive and I don't have a reliable source locally. Has anyone made the rotory jig out of anything besides Acrylic. I was thinking MDF, but my laser won't cut 6mm thickness. I can do 3mm But any thicker, no way. I may just use maple.

If you think MDF will work as a material, what about cutting it using multiple passes?

I tried it with 4.3 mm board. 100% at 5mm per second cut speed and it didn't go through with 2 passes. I guess I will have to keep experimenting.

I gave up on MDF! By the time I got it to go through, the edges were pretty charred. So, I've been using maple. It should hold up just fine, but if not, I had fun trying. Learned a lot too.

I have redesigned it using 20x20mm alum extrusions. That would not be cheaper [but better] than acrylic of course.

You could always cut two 3mm pieces and laminate them together.
