Hello I’m interested in upgrading my 50w laser tube with a Cloudray 60w tube along with a 60w power supply. My machine is a blue-white 50w eBay laser like Russ's.

My current 50w power supply looks like this and has 4 pins on the left-hand side: https://www.cloudraylaser.com/collectio ... -myjg-40ng

I'm interested in upgrading to the 60w Cloudray laser tube ( https://www.cloudraylaser.com/collectio ... 2294270003 ). It seems like I should be using the following power supply: https://www.cloudraylaser.com/collectio ... 1744183347

Is it a problem that the pins are different? It has 3 pins instead of the 4 pins my machine is currently set up for. If anyone could offer some advice it would be much appreciated.

It looks like that is the input power ports, and a lot of these PS can be either 110v or 220v- that could be the difference. Maybe an extra ground [earth] connection?

I went to the links you provided.

The first PS has the following inputs:
L- = Laser tube negative electrode connection.
FG = appears to be chassis ground (earth).
AC = one of the two AC input connections (either 220V or 110V)
AC = one of the two AC input connections (either 220V or 110V)


The second PS appears to have the L- (laser tube negative electrode) hard-wired. In the second photo on the website, you can barely see the black wire coiled up alongside the unit.
The other 3 connections (FG, AC, AC) are on the 3-pin connector.

Yes, the newer power supply seems to be missing the negative electrode connection. Does the black wire (which is coiled up alongside the newer laser tube) need to be connected somewhere?

The 60W power supply has a thick red wire - this should be connected to the positive side of the tube.
The 60W power supply also has a slightly thinner black wire - this should be connected to the negative side of the tube.

Please note that the red wire is VERY high voltage - easily enough to kill you until you're very dead
So if you're not confident about what you're doing, please have an electrician connect it for you.

Thanks Jeffrey, I got confused and was looking for a black wire on the laser tube rather than the power supply. I can see what you mean now after reading your post more carefully.

I also noticed that the power supplies come in different "series", either labelled as "MYJG" or "MY-T"

I got to the bottom of the difference between power supplies. They are simply made from different manufactuers but serve the same function.
