Computer case mod

My very first computer case mod. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. With a few setbacks and a few successes, here it is. I still need to put some finish on it, but the hard part is done.

Are you finishing it in paint or a timber finish of some sort?

Finally getting back to my woody Mini ITX build after getting life stuff in the way. Plan is a beeswax and orange oil finish which with a bit of elbow grease comes up really well even on ply. Got all the rest of the hardware and some good ply to cut it from so it should get done over the next week I hope.

Kicking back with a beer deciding if I want a ply or original IO shield :)

I plan on eventually just putting clear coat on it. I'm a woodworker, so I love the look of natural wood. The front is made from solid maple.

I do plan on building a wood computer case, eventually. I have a complete AMD Ryzen 1600 build to go in it. I just need to settle on a design. But, now that I have the laser, more options have opened up.

BTW, I like the wood I/O

Just about ready to put it on the Laser. The wooden IO needs to be made a bit different due to the thickness and clearances so I am going back to the stock one given the tight case. Air in via the Ryzen 2400G fan and pushed out over the vrm's and ram. Modded 250W PS below it.

Rough dimensions under 200x300x70mm so about 4L (8"x12"x2.75")

Project 101 I guess ;)

That will be really nice. My case will be bigger, due to the fact that I have an ATX board. But, your case would be nice for my MATX board for my HTPC. I often thought it would be nice to have something nicer for my living room. But, that build is still in progress, even though it is a fully functional PLEX server. It will eventually be my VR gaming machine.

This one is heading inside as the media box and as I don't tend to play many high frame rate games the APU will do fine at up to 4k video output. With 16Gb of memory it copes well with Fusion 360 (bench tested) and most other work related software I use so it is a decent all round work station. The only thing it will fall over at is 4K rendering but not a big deal as I have another box for that.

Some time later. Hinges for the corners added along with a few more bits of internal support. 22 parts think it will work :?

Well, you have inspired me. I guess I will start designing a case. Except I will do the design in LightBurn. I don't have 3D software. And I don't think I am up for learning a new more complicated program. My wife likes the idea of creating a new wood case for the HTPC. So, I better get it started. Thanks

It is a step up to 3D Cad but it is not insurmountable. Plenty of youtube videos and simple walk through tutorials in particular for Fusion 360 but I haven't looked at any others seriously. My last formal CAD training was over 30 years ago on Autocad 2.x using a mini computer Fusion is so much easier and more powerful.

With a PC case dropping the living hinge corners and relaxing the minimal size constraint I set on myself a good hand drawn sketch with some dimensions would make it much easier to work in a 2D enviroment. Most of the MB dimensions are here as a reference too https://www.silverstonetek.com/techtalk ... d=wh11_008 if you are drawing one up.

Even opting for a some sort of hand made internal frame with six CNC covers makes sense to KISS.
