Hi, my name is Jason Campbell. I live in Central Michigan. I retired early a few years ago due to some severe back issues that have pretty much crippled me. Now I have to much time on my hands, so I purchased a Chinese 100w laser engraver to add to the things I may still be able to tinker with, even in the bad days.
When I was younger I ran a full metal fab and machine shop making parts and upgrades for the off-road community. I still own all the fabrication equipment. I have a CNC plasma table, CNC Bridgeport Boss, 3d printer, and many manual machines and told as well.
Since retirement I've pursued one of my other more sedentary hobbies, design and repair of (mostly) analog electronics. I have a very nice electronics lab and bushes is really booming. I used to make a lot of custom engraved acrilic artwork on my CNC machines, but I'm no longer able to spend that much time on my feet. I bought the laser to go in the corner of my lab so that I can still do some of the artistic stuff I enjoy. I'll try to attach some pictures of my work.
Hello folks!

I was going to delete this post as I welcomed you in the other post and I assumed this was a duplicate, glad I checked it first. Nice stuff, I trained as a Electronics Tech back in 1965-6 so some of that stuff looks familiar
. Tim on the board is an electronics enthusiast and way more up to date than I am. Gene

We should start a general electronics thread maybe? I have a small test gear acquisition 'problem' as well as a small repair and renovation list to get to
Nice looking build of yours too
'Some' of my toys. Fairly much a mid/high spec Calibration Lab in the making plus my day to day bench gear. Several Oscilloscopes and other associated gear not shown. Generally I play with coffee gear plus data logging plus a mix of general electronics.
@Gene some of my gear was first in use before you trained
Maybe if we rename the first post and move it to general?

No harm done Jason. Tim can do as he sees fit.

Thanks again for the warm welcome folks.
Tim, I at least one piece of test gear daily that I suspect was built before I was born. A Sencore super cricket. It had an op-amp fail a few years ago, but other than that one repair I don't think it had ever been opened. I have a real issue with test equipment too, but I've given some stuff that I rarely used away to a friend who's trying to learn.
I may pick your brain on "off subject" material in the future if you are willing. I'm always trying to learn and will shamelessly ask anyone who's willing to try to help me understand what I do not.
I'm off to start working on getting my machine set up. It's been at my house for 2 weeks and in the lab for a bit over a week. I haven't touched it yet because I have work for clients and I know once I start on the laser, I'm not going to want to quit!
Thank you again folks! Enjoy your day.
Thank you,
Jason
