Engraving Photos

Starting to engrave photos and I was wondering.

What are the settings that you use? I know this will be different from laser to laser. I have a 40w Laguna and I need a starting
point on what setting I need. I've read, so far. Baltic Birch plywood is a good medium. So, those of you who have a 40w laser
chime in. I don't mind experimenting and will do so. But, I need a starting point. TIA

And by my experience, the best engraving is on wood with minimum visible grain.

Thank you, I have seen that video, also. Great information. But, sometimes I think Russ gets a little TOO technical. But, my wife says that this is typical engineers. She worked with engineers when she worked for the government, years ago. So, I downloaded the above PDF and I will watch some of Russ's photo engraving videos and learn. But, what did you settle on for settings? Just curious. ;-)
