Laser cutter door knob

Hey folks, my machine I recently purchased came with these odd triangular shank latches for each of the access doors in the cabinet. The machine only came with one "key" which I'm honestly surprised I havent already lost after only 2 weeks... Anyhow, I took a moment this morning to do a 3d cad model for it so that I could 3d print some spares. Attached are the STL files. V1 has a similar fit to the stock "key" and goes on and off very easily. V3 is a much tighter friction fit and the style I ended up deciding to use. I have just printed up a mess of them and left them permanently attached to the access doors.

Bravo- mine has actual keys which I have been replacing on all the doors that are often opened.

You're welcome! I hope to keep uploading designs I find useful as I go.

This morning I'm off to see if I can find a good set of alignable laser tube mounts. I know Russ did some very good designs, but I'm doubtfull that they will fit in my machine. I bought a 500x700 with a 100W tube. It appears I really got a 100W tube as it is 1450mmx85mm, which is great, but I don't think this cabinet was really designed for it. The manual shows adjustable tube mounts, however mine just came with low profile aluminum clamps. I believe that the cabinet was not designed for such a large diameter tube.

Thank!
Jason

I think this is a fairly common way for the Chinese assemblers to get around redesigning and fetch more money for their machines. I built Russ' designed tube supports and while it was fun, they really did not work well for my machine.

I suggest you search Thingiverse for 3D-printable tube mounts. What? You don't have a 3D printer? Me either, but I have a friend who does.

Oh I do have a 3d printer. And a lathe, and a manual knee mill, and a CNC VMC, and a... Well, we can get it done

Thank you for the suggestion though, I'll look on thingiverse. I normally upload most of my designs there anyhow.

Thanks,
Jason
