So I am out of practice with my laser... I took some time off haha.
Now I want to take a picture, for example... add a thin line border around it, and cut out said border.
I dont want to scan it (engrave) but no matter what I do in inkscape etc, it will will only just scan.
hoping to find some help :)
thank you

You will have to adjust you power and speed in RDWORKS to cut a line that does not cut through you material and then create another vector/line out side you boarder line to cut.

INKSCAPE creates the line - you have to adjust speed and power in RDWORKS - use "cut" vice scan

In order to cut, you need to have vectors.
That means two things: First, you need to create vectors in your software (Inkscape, for example). Second, you need to transfer those vectors to RDWorks. The latter means that you have to save the file in a vector format (.svg, .ai, .dxf) and NOT in a bitmap format (.jpg, .bmp, .gif).

Let us know exactly what you're doing (or even upload a sample file) and we can provide some more specific help.
