I had a booth set up at Katy Market Day this past Saturday. Had over 1,000 pieces if counted individually (some stuff like coaster in sets of 4) and did pretty well. The booth was open for 7 hours and had total sales of $1,198.32. This was the second year and did 50% better than last year with many return customers. My most expensive item was $40 and received 20 special orders to make on top of those. Had a blast and now will start preparing for next year. I try to take pictures of most of the stuff I make and stick it on my website (which needs a lot of revamping) but word of mouth has been my best seller along with help from this Market Day thing. My biggest seller was anything (from $5 to $40) that said, As for me and my house We will serve tacos.

Major home repair, everything moved out and still waiting for me to get back to it. Soon as holidays are past the plan is to get back on it. All three of my workers (me, myself and I) have been busy burning wood for this craft booth I committed to a year ago. I don't know why me or myself could not have been working on the house while I was lasering. Good help is hard to find.

Congratulations on a successful day of selling.

I am curious though, what is the origin of "As for me and my house We will serve tacos"? Is it just an old local saying?

It's a joke based on the Bible. In Joshua 24:15, it says, "If it is displeasing to you to serve the LORD, choose today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors served beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose country you are dwelling. As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

There are many items imprinted with "As for me and my house[hold], we will serve the LORD". So this is a play on that.

Thanks, Jeffrey. I had a feeling there must be a story behind it.

Most every true Texan that I know eats tacos and I really enjoy the greasy Jack in the box tacos for breakfast. So yes, it is probably a Texican thing. The ending to the saying is SALSA 24:7 instead of Joshua 24:15. Guess as a Texican, I just thought everyone knew what it meant.
