Hello All

Hi
firstly seasons greetings to all.

my laser journey started when i ordered a Blue and White chinese laser engraver from an ebay seller. not direct from China. it appears to be identical to the one Russ uses in his videos. i searched videos online and found Russ's very informative videos, downloaded RD Works and spent the 2 weeks whilst i waited for my machine to arrive getting to grips with RD Works and really like the features. however when the machine arrived all was well, no broken parts(bonus) but when i attempted to cut something from files i had created in RD Works i soon found that the new machine would not have anything to do with them. the new machine will only work with files created in ""Autolaser"" which was suplied on the CD. it does not seem as fully featured as RD Works but does some of the things i need to do. but reading on the interweb i think to use RD Works i may need to change the controller inside the machine. which will now have to wait until after the holidays. this one seems to crop up regular in my reading (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CO2-Laser-Co ... %7Ciid%3A1)

if anyone can confirm it is compatible i would appreciate, and if more info is needed let me know and i will do my best to provide.

thanks all and again best wishes for Christmas

Welcome Jeff and Merry Christmas to all.
Pete is correct, Lightburn is a much better software and does many more things than RDW. I learned on RDW and am now using LB for about 95% of my design and laser cutting and engraving. The other 5% is usually spent on RDW to export my many files to ai so that I can import them into LB to save many hours. There are many little extras that will be harder to know how to use properly if you learn on RDW first. But don't leave us if you switch to LB as this forum is a great information spot and a lot of good guys here willing to help.
