Pulling my hair out!

Really hoping someone can help here as I'm at my wits end with this!
I just can't get the software to work. I've tried different leads, different computers, and even paid an IT company to remotely re install and check everything but to no avail.
The machine doesn't show anywhere as an installed device. The controller lights up when you plug in the usb but the machine just isn't there! If you send a drawing it just says communication error. It's the Chinese blue and white 5030

When installing RDWorks, first install the USB Driver. I forget if you have to do it with the USB cable attached or not-attached.
Then install RDWorks itself.

You should see the USB connection shown in the lower-right corner:

That sounds like there's no power to the controller, other than what's coming over the USB cable. Check that you've got mains power into the 24V PSU, and 24V coming out of it.

Sorry for the confusion, it also comes on when the machine is powered up without a usb connected so it must have a supply.

The controller has TWO USB ports, and they are not identical. Have you tried plugging your PC into each port?

On my machine, the USB port on the side of the machine is actually just the end of an "extension cord" that goes to the actual controller. (Pet peeve- they used the wrong gender extension cord). Perhaps yours is faulty. Try plugging a known good USB cable directly into the Ruida controller.

Jeffrey, thank you so much!
I unplugged the extension and plugged it in again and up it came. It must have been not fully in.
Now I can finally get to grips with it!
