Hi all!
I can't believe I just found this forum!
I have a shop in Petaluma, CA about 45 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
In my previous life, I was a college professor. It was at one of the schools I taught at that I was given the opportunity to use my first laser cutter. I used it to make a space ship control panel for my son. At the time he was probably 4.
A short while after the school cancelled my contract due to "motion graphics not being something they thought their graphic design students should learn" I was more upset about losing access to the laser cutters. My wife convinced me to buy my first cutter. It was the blue 500 x 300 Chinese laser. I've been making stuff with that for over 4 years. After a year or so with that, I decided I could use a larger bed, so I bought the red/black 700 x 500 laser cutter.
The latter is how I found this site. I inadvertently changed some settings on it and the head would slam into the left top side every time I started it.
I got too busy to deal with it, so it sat in the corner with a cover over it for a couple of years. I've finally decided to deal with it and started searching. My search led here.
To the admins - thanks for adding me as a user.
