Painting Acrylic

Okay all you acrylic guru's, what's the skinny?

I'm making my new console extension for the Ruida controller and Ma meter and... well you get the jist. But, I don't have enough black acrylic to cut the whole thing from black. I can do the face and the thick right side, but I'm looking at cutting from clear and painting it for the rest.

My thought is to paint the inside with, what else, acrylic paint.

Yes, no, who knows?

That would work - but wouldn't be more practical just to buy a bit more black acrylic.
Otherwise it will always look different piece to piece - you be the judge - you will have to look at it day to day

I guess it's a matter of what I have on hand vs. have to go buy / get.

I have a nice chunk of 5mm black that would work excellent for the face of the extension. I'd have to file notches for the bottom of the control panel to lock into, it's designed for 3mm of course. Lucked out at a scrap store the other day and came across a a huge chunk of 8mm. It has a picture of some kid with the big hairdo from the 70's on one side, but the 'back' side still has the protective paper on it. WORKS FOR ME, and it will be for the right side to extend the face a bit so there is a good chance I can cut it from the border section.

Have most of my mods / improvements done. Have to clean and pretty things up and take pics. The change from Top Wisdom to Ruida will be the last thing to do. I'll be using my one good pieces of black for the face so I want to make sure I don't have any more 'good ideas' to add to it after I make the cuts.
