I am an electrical engineer that does consulting work and bought a laser cutter to be able to make custom enclosures/cutout panels.

That was my initial 'excuse' as an EE. There was also a bit of cool tool and I wonder how they work ;)

If you are doing front panels make sure you take a look at Cermark and Laserbond for Engraving/Marking Metal ones. These with a nibbler are great for one offs.
