Hello from Oregon

Hello all. I bought a 50W laser about a year ago for the initial small-scale production of a product that my dad invented; we needed something faster than a bandsaw for cutting components out of sheet material. We are still trying to figure out how much of a market there is for the product, but in the mean time I have really enjoyed having the laser available for personal projects. I have mostly been using it to make finger-jointed boxes, acrylic embossing dies, rubber stamps, and to engrave gifts for friends. However, I am excited to learn more from this community about the capabilities of the machine and to increase my computer design skills.

Welcome Scotty. Lots of folks here still learning from each other - ask a question and someone will chime in and or do a search of the site.

Hi Scotty,
Welcome to the group. I'll be really surprised if you can cut metal with your 50W laser. But it's great for a lot of other materials, as you are discovering.
