Ceramic tile and wood frame

I did the tile a while back when practicing with Lightburn and keep thinking that it would look nice in a wood frame? Could be a wall hanging or trivet or whatever. The tiles are about .3 thick [4.28 square] and I have a lot of .20 and .25 hardwood/mdf plywood. This was a scrap given to me and I think he said it was hickory. Looking at the picture it appears I didn't even get all the flat white paint washed off- it is a reject, didn't like the line at the bottom.

Even I am old enough to remember seeing Betty Boop Cartoons on one of the two TV Channels we used to have
My current Laser Ply supplier has just started making something similar to this locally
https://plyco.com.au/products/micropanel and I should have a sample pack in the next day or so to play with. Pricing looks 'ok' compared to their straight Ply and some good local and imported hardwood faces.

I am old enough to have not seen any cartoons- we didn't have TV till I was a senior in HS... and then I had a lot better things to do than watch TV

. That hardwood ply is what I use most of, in the States Oak is most common but there are a lot of varietys . It is about $100 US for a 4x8 sheet good two sides [.25" usually] - mostly used for cabinetry. Our local DIY store has it good one side [.2"] for about $60 I think.

Real nice, how about the US flag in the background? How was it made?

Cut all pieces out of 1/8 plywood with laser, painted, assembled to 1/8 mdf and framed with reclaimed fence wood. It is about 16x24.

The star field was cut on the laser perhaps?

Yes the star portion as well as the stripes were all cut with the laser. Then they were painted and glued to an mdf backer painted white in the upper left corner for the stars.
The stars look nice and crisp when the picture is taken of the flag but in this picture is was a background for the tile with my wife's feet on the fishing peer. Notice the fishing rod in the upper right side of the tile.

No where else to put this pic in particular so here will do

I think I might make some small finger jointed boxes with the samples rather than just do test cuts and boring bits

Seems nice and flat and close to Ply stiffness even with the MDF core.
