Pass-through help needed
Posted: Tue Aug 04, 2020
I have had my 6040 yellow/black Chinese laser cutter for a month and find that I need to use the pass-through ability that it seems to have. But the 6mm ply I want to cut will be too high for the lens tube. At the front of the machine is a removeable panel about 5cm tall by 60cm wide. At the back there's an opening about the same size without any cover. I can feed my sheet of ply through these slots and it rests on the welded frame that's sited around the Z axis table. So I understand that I won't be able to adjust the oversized board for height. Unfortunately, the lens tube extends down to just below (5mm or so) the top of the board. The current lens has a 2.5 inch focal length, so I'm thinking if I had a 2 inch or 1.5 inch fl lens and a corresponding shorter (or adjustable) tube I would be able to clear the board easily.
My lens tube setup is the gold-coloured 18mm lens diameter type of assembly (K series?), which are sold on Aliexpress / Amazon etc. The bottom portion is threaded and allows some adjustment but it's already 1 thread from the top
My questions are...
1 Am I right that my machine has pass-through capability?
2 For you guys with that have this feature, how do you set focus on long boards?
