DPI / Frequency

I just finished watching a YouTube video by TroTech using there machine to cut plastic. (Very informative video.) The author talked about varying DPI and/or the frequency of their laser. Is this capability unique to their product(s) or is it depending on software?

We can vary the DPI but our machines cannot change the frequency- we have Direct Current machines [water cooled glass tube] and Trotec and similar machines are Radio Frequency [air cooled metal tube]. Russ' latest videos are experimenting with a RF tube in a Chinese laser if you are interested.DPI is changed via the interval/mm setting in the scan settings.

Russ' latest video comparing RF and DC tubes is a good watch. It kind of verified how I had them arranged in my mind. CO2 tubes are a much cheaper alternative to the metal tubes and both have limitations. I am interested in what he comes up with trying a RF style control for the normal DC tube input. I will probably think of the proper terminology for the inputs in an hour or two [memory is slipping away] but I hope you understand what I am shooting for.
