Image background

Hi everyone hope all is safe and well
I have just bought a vevor 80w laser and looking forward to the challenge
After watching lots of Utube on laserengraving I thought this is what I need as I am coming upto retirement and needed something to do
Thinking I would hook it up and stand back and watch my projects come to life
Well talk about being gullible what a shock that was
But I love a challenge and hope you guys can give me some advice
When I have removed the image background in Coreldraw and import it into RDworks it puts a box around the image thus the laser engraves the back ground as well hopefully someone can give me some advise
Also even when I place the image on the screen The laser always starts in the middle of the cutting board
I am sure that I am not understanding the software and as I said very keen on learning
