Just joined the group as a complete newbie to laser cutters/engravers. I bought a Ortur 20w unit around Thanksgiving and was so fascinated with it that I ordered a OMTech 60w cabinet unit a few weeks later. I also have a CNC router and two 3D printers to compliment one another. I do this just as a hobby and for the fun of it (for now anyway) and to keep me busy and out of trouble when I retire in 6 years...hopefully. 
I've been a machinist most of my adult life, so this all comes together quite well for me.
