I can understand needing to align after moving your laser machine , but i’ve been wheeling min across a flat floor maybe about 2ft and keep finding that whenever i do this i need to re align the beam

is this normal ?

I have blocks against the wall, actually plastic pop crates, so that mine goes back in the same place when I move it our for cleaning and testing. Until I did, I was constantly having to tweak my alignment. It's a tin box. Not a light one, but still a tin box.

ah great good to know it’s normal , maybe if i put it back befor running tests it would have been ok but as it was i started testing with it away from wall which meant i re aligned which of course meant i had to re align when put back
thanks Dave

Before I put everything up on 4x4 runners, I was constantly tweaking as I bumped this or that. Put the laser, my DIY chiller, and my worktop on the chiller all up on a pair of 4x4's and with the upside down pop crates as primitive registration points against the two walls, I've only had minor issues. My laser thinks it's been bad, I make it sit in the corner...

I never realized how non-flat my basement floor is until I bought my laser. If you have to move your laser, put tape down to show the exact_position for each of the four casters/wheels on your laser so you know your "calibrated location."

yeh i think between marking with tape and Daves calibrated bottle crate thing it might save me a bit of alignment time , thanks 👍🏻
