Hi everyone and I hope you are are well.

I own and operate two lasers now, on e a 1996 Epilog Sumit thats still going strong on its original tube and very recently I have been gettitng more serious about this part of my life so invested is a new 130 Watt machine with a few bells and whistles.
Both machines support our STEAM education compant and we do courses for teachers asisting them in getting studnts into rapid prototyping.

Im thinking of rebuilding the epilog to use the same Ruida RDC6445G setup so I can get away from some of the older functionality that the Epilog has, ass air assist, and a few more bits. ;)

Welcome Gary- we advise recording your Vendor files for future calamities. It is a wonderful thing to pass some of our skills and technology along to young people- thank you. Gene

Old thread I know - but did you ever attempt to convert your epilog to Rudia?
Taking on a similar project but can't find much info online as to how to address things like the motors which aren't traditional steppers

Hi Jeff- is this your first post? I thought you could only post in the Welcome forum for the first post- after that you can post most anywhere. The OP has not been back to the forum since May 2021 so I don't think we will hear from him anymore. I thought it was an interesting project as well. I am not sure about the differences between Epilog style machines and out glass tube machines. I have self drawn schematics and a electrical tech background [50 years ago- I don't think anything has changed?] and have worked on several different glass tube machines. I will help if I can. Gene
