Russ' latest video questions

Hey everyone, so in Russ' latest video he kind of showed the effect of removing the 'hole' in the lens and seeing what impact it had. Has anyone here done the opposite by *blocking out* all but maybe 1/2 of the beam diameter and seeing if that effects your focal range/ ability to make clean cuts? Obviously that will reduce your overall power, but if you only use that ~70% in the middle and use that to focus, surely that would increase your focal length/spot size?

The part I took from that one and the previous is the value of the GaAs lens'. With the different refractivness and a shallower top curve, you get better deep cutting with a GaAs compared to the same or longer focal length PVD.

Yeah, I had picked that up as well. I just was wondering if anyone had tested removing the low power that does the 'scorching' and instead just kept the higher power 'cutting' beam in the middle
