Hello from Minnesota

Greetings,
I am a new user of laser cutters. I received my 50 W laser cutter at the end of January just before we headed south to get away from the Minnesota winter. Now we are back in Minnesota and I an just starting to use my new tool. Retiring just before COVID, and now have more time to spend on my hobbies. The laser cutter was primarily purchased to help me build models of structures.
Sincerely,
Rich Remiarz

Welcome Rich- I am in beautiful downtown Blaine- we should meet sometime. I like to go south for Feb myself but I can only stand about a month at a time. We advise saving your Vendor/User files as newbies to the machines and software often lose them [details in the FAQ section]. If you have any questions, ask away. Gene

Hi Gene,
I live in Vadnais Heights. Thanks for the tip on saving files. Are there many other users from the Twin Cities?

Not that I have noticed, but you would think there would be. Our little group is mostly Ruida controller users- there are a number of other brands of controllers who we do not reach. I know of a couple in my small group of acquaintances but they are mostly business users so I am sure there are those too. Gene

Welcome Richard.
What scale of structures do you build??? I also have a resin 3D printer for windows and other details parts.
I don't like the way some commercial kits do their windows with peel and stick.
Thanks
Rodney

Rodney,
I build most of my structures in HO scale. I have a good friend modeling in N scale, so will probably do some models for him also.

Richard,
I mainly model N scale. My layout is based on the WP's Feather River Canyon and is 28' X 52' mushroom design The era I'm modeling is 1955. Most of all the track is laid. Right now I'm relaying Portola yard (for the 3rd time) and laying more industrial trackage in Oroville. The only places on the layout that is 100% prototype is Keddie Wye, Williams Loop and Clio trestle.
Anyway, if you want, we could trade our files back and forth.

Hi Rodney,
I wouldn't mind being included in your trade of files w/ Rich. I'm modeling the UP's Kansas Division (including the branch to Leavenworth) circa 1952. I'm in HO scale.
Thanks,
-Jeff
