Lens' - GaAs vs. PVD / CVD

WOW!.... I'll say it again, WOW!

I know in his latest videos Russ was talking about the different curvatures of the lens', but in the videos they don't look all that different. In hand is a totally different matter.

The GaAs lens are so flat, I couldn't tell one side from the other in my fingers. Had to set them on a hard surface to see what side stayed flat and what side rocked a bit... and VERY LITTLE bit.

Can't wait to test them this weekend.

Let us know what you think of the performance, Dave. I have one on the way.

I bought a 2" and 2 1/2" GaAs and a 2" CVD to get started with. I will use the 2 1/2 first for trial cutting

I have a 2" GaAs (bought to match the other 2in meniscus I had) and it works wonders. I'm thinking of buying the 2.5" as well since my beam form is pretty garbage, the flatter it is seems to help keep that darn beam straight and strong

I have a 2.5" that I love, and just received a 3" and a 4" from Cloudray which I have not had a chance to play with yet. The only downside
I can see is the red dot from the collimating lens will not pass the GaAs lens- I attached a temporary line LED for the X axis [it is easy to line up the Y axis by eye].

Yeah, that's where the new camera feature will come in handy. They've made some improvements in the .54 version, but all I've had time to do is look. Testing will be down the road a bit. I know my little 2mp camera didn't do to well when I expanded the view out to my full 500 x 700 bed, but it worked great in the initial test with just a quarter of it. Probably going to have to break down and get a good 5mp or 8mp camera. Anybody out there using LightBurn with a camera, feel free to download and try the .54 version of RDWorks and let us know how they compare.
