Ruida Controller Screen Not Working

I decided to install some additional 24V LED light stirps to my laser. I tied them into them to the existing led strip that was came installed when I purchased it.
The LEDs are terminated on the Ruida RDC6442S controller board on the CN1 +24V and GND. When I connected power back up the LEDs all turned on but the LCD display will no longer turn on and the laser head does not home. The problem does not go away even if I disconnect all of the LEDs. LED #15 stays lit up.
Looking at the specs of the LED strip should be drawing about 1.5A and looking in the manual it will only output 500mA. I probably should have looked at that spec before installing. Did I fry my controller? Is there something I should check before forking out a few hundred on a new controller?
