Hello everyone!
Thank you for creating this forum - it looks like there's a wealth of information here! I'm in the process of building an 80W CO2 laser based off the Y1200 laser by Rob at Further Fabrication with a bed size of approximately 1200x600. I have the electronics wired up but need to figure out how to set up the Ruida RDC6445G controller with the custom settings! I plan to use Lightburn, so any advice on setting up the Ruida controller and/or Lightburn would be appreciated! Looking forward to learning here and soaking up some of the information you've all accumulated!
Cory

Welcome Cory - be sure to back up your vendor settings - they are easily lost and hard to recover
Thereare several folks build or have completed building - so if you have specific question just ask - someone is sure to respond.
As a Matter of fact Gene Uselman on this forum is in Suburban Minneapolis, Minnesota, US

Cory.
I hope you did the upgrade of a single motor on the Y axis. If you didn't, you could be in danger of starting a fire. If one of the motors miss any steps, it will cause the mirrors to be misaligned and the beam go astray.
I just went through what your getting ready to do. I built mine from scratch and used what I thought was the best from other builds.
Rob has all of the setting he used in a series of pictures if you bought his plans.
The way I did mine was go to vendor settings and set the total movement (bed size) of the X and Y axis first. I started with the X axis and by moving it back and forth and adjusting the step length till you get it close. then do the same with the Y. After you get it operating, start cutting pieces and measuring them and open the "step precision" box (next to the step length box) and record your numbers.

Hi Rodney,
I did do the single motor upgrade for the Y-axis (it still drives me nuts calling the Y1200 long axis the Y axis!).
I'm having trouble with the controller. I have a Ruida RDC6445G running version RDC-V15.01.17 and using Lightburn software on my Windows 10 PC. I can get them to talk to each other, but I can only move the gantry along the Y (long) axis... I cannot get the laser head to move along the gantry/X axis.
Also, the RDC6445G thinks that the position of the laser head is at X:10,000mm, Y:10,000mm, X: 3,000mm. I'm not sure what setting I need to change on this and of course I didn't save the original vendor settings.

Don't worry about saving the vendor settings till you have it dialed in. I did all of my setting on the controller itself. I haven't tried lightburn yet. Once I had mine ready to cut, I used RDWorks to do all the final configurations.
Looking at Rob's photos, I got this info.
Go to vendor setting and on the X axis,
set the step length to 9.38628
breadth to 1200
On the Y it should be
step length 6.248460
breadth 600
Make sure you are writing these to the controllers.
send me a PM if you want and we can get together and I can walk you through it if need be.

That's a relief!
