Hi all here goes !
Purchased 2nd hand KH-5030 off Ebay. Seller was a Nice guy selling as parts not working so great price.
Asked about the issue and basically said that the software did not recognize the entire bed.
To a novice but fairly good a solving riddles i though it was worth the risk and whisked it away..

Now I've come to turn it on its mix of issues which after trawling the posts and changing setting and a limited the issues just don't seem to add up .
Here's what's happening broken down..

RDLC-V8.00.46 Controller software

On power up it homes TL (Top Left). ( Limiters are Top Right for Y and Top Left for for X )
When reaching home TL it keeps going juddering into the end stop.
Limiters do not light.
When manually moving the head using Rudia and then restarting it does not always home all the way but moves a certain distance and then seems to "complain" and then stop .. Sometimes it sounds like there is electrical power going to something for a while but not mechanical ie motor is complaining. when pressing ESC the noise abates.

Changed X axis limiter and still does not register or stop . Changed parameters for it in RDW (RD Works ) IE -Neg to +Pos // Limter on off ect and re-tested. Makes no difference
Neither limiter LED lights when a ferrous metal is put against it .

So When i look at the diagnostic when first checking things none of the boxes were checked Green .
I have re upped the Vendors setting from the thread on this site and now the Water protect is green but Axis protect is still not ticked.
Doing a test shape via RDW (laser turned off) the controller recognizes that the water is not turned on an won't budge .
Water Turned on the head moves ( sizing all wrong but for another day !) so that element of the diagnostic is correct and reading .
When the test shape draws the Y limiter light comes on. [/list][/list]

Additional observations is that the bed size (picture attached of the Rudia) had read the reupped vendor settings and displayed as 500/300 but after turning the unit on and off after writing a change and having to press ESC to stop the homing judder its reverted back to huge bed readings. Before and after pictures attached.

The Bed on Z axis seems to resist moving up and down . Have attempted to do it via the Rudia but does not shift.
There are two Red buttons on the side that suggest they are for the rise and fall Z but do nothing but are wired in.
On the controller board Light no. 14 flashes on off.


So unpicking .
Limiters : I think in principal they have the ability to work but is dependent on what situation ?
Controller : Starting to think its screwy
Not sure how to load the User Settings ( russ down load from this site.) Is it a different menu to Vendor settings ?

So I've given it a good go myself but need some nudging now/encouragement in the right direction!

Update : Have continued surfing the forum and the 10000/10000 setting on the controller is reported to be fairly normal when there's a homing issue.
Don't know my way out of it but at least its a bit closer !

That looks like a 6442 controller? I don't seem to have the troubleshooting screen you show on my 6445 but I would think the X&Y limit boxes should be lit- again not sure. Setting the polarities on the limit switches in the Machine settings can be a trial and error situation- there are so many combinations of switches and wiring that Ruida is trying to allow for that I would just pick one axis and change the different possibilities until you hit paydirt. You could also download Notepad++ and their free comparative application and look at the differences between your Vendor file and one that works [we have quite a few Vendor files [Recovery files] in a sub forum.

I just reread your post and it is homing but to the wrong corner...
In device settings there is an origin layout with the four corners- is the upper right corner selected?

Have i made a rookie error in thinking it should home Top left .. This is based on the fact that the limiter on the X is on the left ..
Whats the rule of thumb to know which end its its supposed to home to ?

Clarification pretty please ...
As I've never seen this machine working when setting RD or Lightburn to its home setting how can you tell ?
If the limiter on X is on the left of the carriage arm L and the Y is TR corner then what's what ?

I made the assumption that it would be Top Left , ready for re- education

When you say limiter you mean the switch, correct. If the X switch is on the left, the Y cannot be Right rear. The carriage arm is the Gantry BTW.

Gene 1st off thanks so much engaging , nice to hear a voice out there !
Here's a picture of the Gantry ( thanks for the terminology adjustment ) showing Proximity on Left of the X axis and Right top for Y ?!
Checked to see if there are mounting holes etc to see if previous owner has adjusted but doesn't seem so .

Can you check the picture and confirm that either I'm more of a noob that i thought or the proximity is L on the X and TR on Y.. IF so what doe s this mean for moving forward ?

( The reason for the "spiral" grey cable in the picture is I've not re routed the new proximity switch (X) cable into the trunking yet, in case its all just a software / controller thing and can re hook up the old sensor .. )

That is how it looks alright. So you replaced the X limiter switch? With the same switch? I have never seen a setup like that but I am only 6 years into lasers and 20 into CNCs. You said it wanted to home to the left rear so that must be how it was birthed. So neither of the switches are functional? Normally a switch like yours will have a LED that sets when a metal [ferrous] screwdriver blade goes over it- if it does not there must not be power to it- either wiring or programming problem.

1) Read the controller via RDW under Vendor Settings RD8888
2) Change a setting ie X access "Enable Home"
3)Click Write
4) Turn the controller off then on again to check what changes it has made ,
Think that's how I've read it from the posts here..

Neither limiter LED lights when a ferrous metal is put against it . (even checked that the metal i was using was magnetic to make sure it was ferrous , double guessing myself now ! )

I drew a rectangle shape in RDW and then sent to write the laser head moves through a rectangle ( size not correct but can get to that later ! ) Noticed that the Y Axis proximity LED did light .. It does not however light up when using the Ruida controller arrows to take the Y axis to the top of the bed.

Seems strange that i can get it to light using RDW but not any other way. ?

One thing i did want to try was loading the "user_settings russ 3050 machine.RDUSet" but don't know where in the RDW menus it give me the option to load it .. think this might get me closer but not sure how to .?
I'm able to load change the Vendor settings.
