A young 62 year old test and development Engineer in the vehicle component manufacturing industry. Now retired due to lower back herniated disk. But an engineers mind can't relax and take things too easy. I like to keep as busy as I can with various technology related hobbies and challenges.
Bought a CO2 laser after seeing one in action with a friend of a friend. After some research I purchased a 1200 x 900, 100w laser from C R Clark Ltd, which is a local company, and I knew some of the staff there, so half a dozen of them came around to help me get it into the workshop. Its basically a re-badged Thinklaser Lightblade machine. Had it for three years and is still cutting as good now as it did when new. Came up against a couple of problems during that time. Not a fault of the machine. Problem was the material I was attempting to cut/engrave. I came up with a couple of relatively simple workarounds which I will share in the forum. Hopefully the info will be of use to others.
