Laser cutting ceramics just blew my mind.

I just watched this video and it's pretty impressive. This guy laser cuts ceramics for making circuit boards, and he does it on a "60w" Chinese laser. It takes a hundred passes, but he gets it done. Oh yeah, and he cuts it UNDERWATER! I figured the fine folks on this forum would find this as interesting as I do.

Zack.

Ps. This guy is a genius, he even designed and built his own election microscope in his garage. His content is a little dry, but one does not watch a 20 minute video of how filling a tennis ball with sulphur hexafluoride effects it's bounciness for superfluous entertainment.

That is interesting [and long] and I hope if I ever run into some problem like that that I remember this?

Yeah I've been wanting to try that with mineral oil.
Water is a disaster with CO2 lasers in that it absorbs most of the energy, which causes heating and massive refraction problems. So the energy on the material is low and the focus is wrecked.
As soon as I have a free minute.......
