Helping someone setup an 80W OMTech that shipped with a Ryxon controller. Air assist is stupid because it only fires when the it pulses. I was told to change a setting in RDWorks, but stupid RDWorks doesn't actually work. USB connection fails on multiple computers. Ethernet fails on multiple computers. I've hardcoded the controller with a static IP, and that doesn't work either. I can ping the IP, but RDWorks keeps saying port communication error regardless. I know the issue isn't on our end - it has to be the controller, right? Lightburn works fine with the laser over both USB and ethernet - RDWorks just can't read it, and unfortunately RDWorks is the only way to change this setting from what I've read.

Ryxon KT332n controller
DSP 23.01.09

Any ideas? USB and ethernet both don't work. Tried different versions of RDWorks, and none of them let me actually talk to the laser. I need to fix this air assist- machine engraving is worthless if this doesn't communicate to make this setting.

RDWorks always was troublesome- Lightburn is far better and what a lot of us use. I was not aware of anything that could not be accessed from LB- if we cannot help, you can get the real lowdown on LightBurn.com.

The problem, is that Lightburn doesn't let users of the KT332N change the solenoid/air assist setting. Even Ryxon's manual for it shows it's only accessible via RDWorks. That's the problem. I'd prefer to use Lightburn for everything, but we have to make this change to the vendor settings via RDWorks, even though nothing lets us connect to it.

I wonder if that is a 'feature' of the particular controller model? As I recall that was an economy model, I am away on Vaca for a couple more weeks and I seem to have left my brain on the counter in sunny Minn.

Here's the info:

3. You can skip this step if you have a Ruida 6442 controller. Otherwise, go into the User Tab on the right side, click the Other Radio Button, click the Read Button, and change the Blow Type setting from "Laser on blow" to "Processing blow." Then click the Write Button to save it to your Ruida controller. This will prevent the solenoid from clicking on and off when the laser turns on and off during a job.

The air assist "by layer" or "with laser" is available in the upcoming release of LightBurn.

Sounds essentially like the same setting that I have to change on RDWorks to "processing blow" then, right? If so, that's awesome. My buddy will be glad his controller isn't complete garbage!

Sorry for the 2nd reply - but are you referring to a vendor setting or machine setting change, right?

So the new version of lightburn came out today and didn't see this option in there. Did it not make the cut?

According to Feature Request, was added in v1.0.0

Ruida 6445 somewhere between version 15.01.15 and 15.01.19 added a "feature" that makes the air assist turn on and off with the laser instead of just per layer. the issue is that they made the this new behavior the default, and some of us don't want our air valves going clickity clack several times a second and wearing out.

If so, would be in Machine settings, but I don't think I have that setting on my 6442.
