Uninstalling RDWorks - Error

I've searched the forum and see where the question about how to uninstall has been asked a few times but never answered. I too am getting this error during an attempt to remove an older version of RDWorks for the purpose of upgrading from the Windows Settings Uninstall applet.

I later found the "RDWorksV8Uninstall.exe" in the root of the install folder and tried that. While it appears with a "Uninstall success" message, when I return to the applet and refresh, the application is still showing in the list. I again tried the uninstall feature there and got the same message above.
I've ran the "RDWorksV8Uninstall.exe" in Administrator mode but it's still not getting rid of the software.

I suppose I could simply delete the folder and go into the registry editor and remove all remains that I "think" should be purged but I really only want to do that as a last resort.

So I deleted the latest version's folder but that didn't remove it from the applet (as I expected it wouldn't)

For what it's worth, I have v8.01.57 and v8.01.60 on the PC and they don't appear to causing any conflict but I haven't tried to connect to the Laser since I installed v8.01.60.

Any suggestions on why I can move forward?

Sorry.. should've said "can't" move forward.

I looked in the registry and found there is a key/reference for "C:/newpr/

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FeatureUsage\AppSwitched\ : C:\newpr\RDWorksSetUpV8.exe

However, it no longer exists so I'm guessing once the install is finished it removes the file/folder but doesn't cleanup the registry. Also, the supplied uninstaller is now pointing to the incorrect directory

I looked for hidden folders on C:/ but it's simply not there in that list which has led me to the above conclusion.

There are multitudes of entries in the registry for "RDWorks" and I'm going to do the registry edit/cleanup via an editing tool I've used for years.

Would really think this needs to be fixed by the authors though.

THis is from an old post - the salient point is it defines how to remove RDWORKS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHela0GXcfc
This video explains how to fix the linkage between corel and RDWORKS.
I recommend watching the video and THEN run the video as you perform the step - stopping the video as you execute the process when necessary.
This process will delete RDWORKS and reinstall. I have done this several time because I have tried to load a file created to a RD version higher than mine and that creates a problem. I run version 18 - at it works well for me - there are of course newer version but I don't need any of the new features and 18 has been very stable (except when running the wrong file ver).

Thanks for the link.

For those following this... if you don't have Corel.. well I'm not sure it's going to be very helpful.

I think though, the key point is to remove the *.dll's as shown, but I didn't try that as I'd already deleted the folders and cleaned up all pointers to RDWorks with a registry editor after first creating a restore point for Windows (just to be safe).

I may give the deletion of the dll's a whirl next time.
